Onboarding

Welcome to Levain! This guide will walk you through the steps to get started with Levain.

Creating your user account

To get started, you will need to first create a user account using your email address if you don't already have one. You can do so by clicking on the Sign up here link on the login page.

Creating your organization account

Currently, Levain requires you to be onboarded by the Levain Product Team. Please contact the Levain Product Team to get started. If you are already onboarded by the Levain Product Team, you will receive an invitation email where you can simply join the organization.

We are working on a self-serve onboarding process, so stay tuned!

Creating your first wallet

Once you have been onboarded, you will be able to create your first wallet. You can do so by clicking on the Create Wallet button on the wallets page. Note that you may need to get your Gas Tank ready before you can create your first wallet.

Testnet vs Mainnet

When creating a wallet, you will be prompted to select the network you would like to create your wallet on. You can choose between the testnet and mainnet networks. Testnet wallets are meant for testing purposes and are not meant to be used in production. Mainnet wallets are meant for production use.

If you're new to blockchain, we recommend that you start with the testnet network to get familiar with the platform. You can always create a mainnet wallet later.

Funding your Gas Tank

If you are creating a wallet on a blockchain that requires a Gas Tank, you will be prompted to create a Gas Tank if you have not already done so. As it's the first time you are creating a Gas Tank, you will need to fund your Gas Tank with native tokens. There are a few ways to do so.

Mainnet

  • Purchase some crypto assets on a crypto exchange and transfer them to your Gas Tank address
  • Transfer some crypto assets from your personal wallet to your Gas Tank address

Testnet

  • Use a faucet to request for some testnet crypto assets to be sent to your Gas Tank address

Setting up your wallet policies

Once you have created your wallet, you can start setting up your wallet policies. Wallet policies are a set of rules that govern how your wallet can be used. For more details on wallet policies, please refer to the wallet policies user guide. You should minimally whitelist your own address so that you can send transactions from your wallet to test.

Transferring in some crypto assets

Once you have created your wallet and set up your wallet policies, you can transfer some crypto assets into your wallet. Similarly to how you funded your Gas Tank:

  • On mainnets, you can purchase some crypto assets on a crypto exchange and transfer them to your wallet address
  • On testnets, you can use faucets to request for some testnet crypto assets to be sent to your wallet address

Sending your first transaction

Once you have transferred some crypto assets into your wallet, you can start sending transactions from your wallet. You can do so by clicking on the Send button on the wallets page. You will be prompted to enter the recipient address, the amount to send, and the gas fee selection. Once you have entered the required information, you can click on the Send button to send the transaction.
